The United Nations Sustainable development goals are meant to address the most significant global issues that we face today. This includes poverty, reliable healthcare, access to education, and global hunger. (Re)Construct Calgary believe that engineering entrepreneurship and innovation can contribute significantly to achieving these goals. To encourage student sustainable development ventures, we will be holding a competition and awarding the (Re)Construct Sustainable Development Award to whomever student(s) best fulfill the following objective:
Deliver a ten-minute presentation outlining a viable solution to a specific issue related to the sustainable development goals.

Proposal and Website Launch

Official release of (Re)Construct Calgary’s proposal and website December 5th. The proposal will outline recommendations to help the City of Calgary improve their C&D recycling strategies. We hope the City of Calgary will reach an 80% diversion average by 2025 for C&D materials.
Zero Waste Holiday Celebration

Join Plastic-Free YYC for an evening of creativity, cheer and charitable giving to start off the holiday season at their second annual Zero Waste Holiday Party.
Music, delicious food and drinks alongside hands-on holiday crafts, interactive zero waste activities and games for all ages.

Meeting with City of Calgary

The team hopes to meet with City of Calgary waste management department, councillors, and Mayor Nenshi in the new year to give an overview of our proposal and discuss opportunities to work together. Ultimately, we would like to have a vote that would approve our plan to reach 80% waste diversion.
